Robert D'Anjou

President

       Rob takes a no-nonsense approach to business, with quantitative metrics and a "facts-first"  attitude towards project implementation and stakeholder engagement, while his technical ideology pushes the envelope towards the development of more reliable, sustainable, and cost effective remediation solutions.  


He is an internationally recognized expert in remediation technology, with 15 years of professional experience developing, driving, and managing the technical implementation of large-scale and highly complex projects around the world.  His expertise focuses strongly on thermal remediation, bioremediation, and combined in situ remediation strategies with a powerful supporting background in organic geochemistry,  thermodynamics, microbiology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, and electrical theory.


 A hands-on leader, Robert remains closely involved in the technical design and execution of ERG’s projects, fostering open communication and active collaboration with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. He also directs the company’s research and development initiatives, continually refining and expanding ERG’s capabilities. Robert’s mission is to cultivate a forward-thinking, solutions-driven culture that merges environmental responsibility, innovation, and meaningful partnerships to protect and restore the environments they serve.

Throughout his career, Rob has developed hundreds of remediation end-point specific conceptual site models, remediation system designs, and operational strategies, and has lead the implementation of over 38 projects using in-situ and ex-situ thermal remediation and combined in situ remediation strategies which successfully met cleanup criteria and collectively removed over 5,500,000-lbs of VOCs and SVOCs. 


His ability to generate novel solutions to complex problems through innovative thinking alongside his unique ability to navigate the highly technical as well as complicated interpersonal and inter-party dynamics inherent to large-scale cutting-edge projects, has allowed some of the largest, most complex thermal remediation projects ever implemented to meet successful remediation end-points on-time and under budget, including: 

  • Thirteen (13) In Situ Electrical Resistance Heating (ERH) Projects (2013-2019)
  • Seventeen(19) in Situ Thermal Conduction Heating (TCH) projects using electric, gas combustion, and ERG's Patent Pending Hybrid Energy (HETR) based TCH technologies (2016-2025) 
  • Three (3) high temperature (>350 deg C) ex-situ thermal remediation (ESTR) projects to remove SVOC impacts, totaling over 60,000-cubic yards of treated soils.
  • Four (4) highly innovative combined remediation approach projects using low to mid temperature, heat enhanced, removal mechanisms.   
  •  The largest ever high-temperature (300-500˚C) implementation of ISTR at an MGP site (2020-2022).
  • The first successful ISTR projects implemented in Australia (2020-2022) and Singapore (2020-2022).

When He Isn't Cleaning Up Contaminants

When he’s not working, Rob is probably off with family and friends enjoying fresh air and good food. He is an avid hiker, backpacker, and fair-weather mountaineer. When he’s not getting lost in the mountains, you’ll find him somewhere in the ocean – kiteboarding, scuba diving, paddleboarding, or just floating around in the waves. His passion for nature is only surpassed by his unyielding love of pizza.
