Specialties
Contaminated site remediation, technology development and commercialization, program and project management, operations management, corporate startups, strategic planning, business and sales development, and staff mentoring.
Having managed more than 300 client projects, Mr. Dodson has delivered applied research, environmental consulting, site evaluation, and site remediation services on a nation-wide basis. His areas of technical expertise include the in situ remediation of fuel hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents. Projects under his management have successfully obtained site closure at both LNAPL and DNAPL impacted properties.
Mr. Dodson’s federal sector clients include the EPA, USACOE, DOD, and DOE. He has also assisted state and local regulatory agencies, cities, school districts, port authorities and utilities evaluate and solve environmental cleanup issues. In the private sector, he has worked with major oil and Fortune 500 companies, regional industries, PRP committees, law firms, property owners, and environmental consulting and engineering firms throughout North America.
His in situ remediation experience includes the application of soil vapor extraction (SVE), dual vapor extraction (DVE), multi-phase extraction (MPE), bioventing and bio-slurping, air sparging, pneumatic soil fracturing, chemical oxidation, enhanced bioremediation, and subsurface heating systems. He has overseen the permitting of these technologies in multiple states.
His expertise with remediation technologies includes the successful treatment of the free products, vapors, groundwater, and steam they produce using separators, condensers, catalytic and thermal oxidizers, air strippers, and carbon adsorption systems.
On a project level, Mr. Dodson has guided teams of engineers, geologists and remediation technicians through the design, permitting, installation and operation of more than 120 in situ remediation systems. At the corporate level, he has lead civil, environmental, geotechnical, and forensics engineering groups and environmental, analytical chemistry, subsurface drilling, and construction inspection departments.
Mr. Dodson was the leader of the team that commercialized the in situ electrical resistance heating (ERH) technology developed by Battelle at the DOE’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He was instrumental in building the management, sales and technical groups; creating and executing the marketing and business plans; and obtaining the capital and specialty equipment required to successfully launch ERH into the environmental remediation marketplace.
